Lead Plant Mechanic

One of our clients has an immediate opening for a Night Shift Lead Plant Mechanic to support quarry operations in Rockville, Maryland. This role is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of fixed electrical and mechanical equipment, systems, and machinery.

This is a 2nd shift position with a start time between 1:00pm–3:00pm. Overtime may be required, and shifts may be adjusted based on business needs.

• Inspect plant equipment and perform necessary repairs and adjustments
• Report repair needs and findings to the Area Manager
• Complete work orders including installing, repairing, and fabricating metal materials
• Weld and repair steel and aluminum structures and components
• Perform preventative maintenance on fixed and mobile equipment
• Conduct routine inspections of plant and mobile equipment
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform urgent repairs
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Maintain shop tools, vehicles, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
• Rebuild or fabricate parts and repair electrical equipment
• Prepare required plant reports and maintain inventory of repair supplies
• Lead and support a team of mechanics to ensure safe and efficient quarry operations
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Technical certification or degree in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or related field (preferred)

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

• Experience maintaining crushers, conveyors, trucks, and quarry machinery
• Ability to oversee major equipment repairs and minimize downtime
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Ability to coordinate maintenance schedules with management
• Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records
• Stay current with new technologies and maintenance practices
• Must adhere to all safety protocols and properly use required PPE, including respirators when applicable
