One of our clients has an immediate opening for a Night Shift Lead Plant Mechanic to support quarry operations in Rockville, Maryland. This role is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of fixed electrical and mechanical equipment, systems, and machinery.
This is a 2nd shift position with a start time between 1:00pm–3:00pm. Overtime may be required, and shifts may be adjusted based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect plant equipment and perform necessary repairs and adjustments
- Report repair needs and findings to the Area Manager
- Complete work orders including installing, repairing, and fabricating metal materials
- Weld and repair steel and aluminum structures and components
- Perform preventative maintenance on fixed and mobile equipment
- Conduct routine inspections of plant and mobile equipment
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform urgent repairs
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Maintain shop tools, vehicles, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Rebuild or fabricate parts and repair electrical equipment
- Prepare required plant reports and maintain inventory of repair supplies
- Lead and support a team of mechanics to ensure safe and efficient quarry operations
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Technical certification or degree in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or related field (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience maintaining crushers, conveyors, trucks, and quarry machinery
- Ability to oversee major equipment repairs and minimize downtime
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to coordinate maintenance schedules with management
- Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records
- Stay current with new technologies and maintenance practices
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and properly use required PPE, including respirators when applicable
