Main Purpose of Job
This position shall help each resident achieve their best possible health. This position's capacity responsibilities will include directing, providing, monitoring and/or supervising provision of health care services to and on behalf of Center Individuals. This position will help to coordinate with Physicians, Psychologists, Certified Nurse Practitioners, and all other interdisciplinary individuals to ensure that our residents have adequate nursing support. As neither the Potomac Center of the Secure Evaluation Therapeutic Treatment facility (SETT) does not have an on‑grounds full‑time medical provider, this position must be able to respond to emergency situations, both medical and behavioral, in accordance with sound nursing practice and applicable policies and procedures, issuing any necessary instructions or directions to staff.

Minimum QualificationsEducation: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.
Experience: Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, one year of which must have been in the medical option.
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university for the one year of general experience.
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree in nursing or a health‑related field from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading Registered Nurses and Licensed Practitioner Nurses.
- Experience working with an intellectually disabled population.
- Experience working with a forensic population.
- Candidates must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing or a current multi‑state license in states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.
- Employees may be assigned duties requiring operation of an automobile; such employees must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in the State of Maryland.
- Employees may be required to successfully complete and maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
- Employees are subject to call‑in and must provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.
- Employees are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09.
