Nursing Lab & Clinical Associate
Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring MD, seeks a candidate for a full-time Nursing Lab & Clinical Associate, in the Nursing program. The work schedule is typically, 9:30 am to 6 pm Mon-Fri. Intermittent Saturdays as needed for student and program support (as an alternate to one day during the week). Not eligible for telework.
This is a non-bargaining, exempt, grade 29 position.

This position oversees students in the nursing skills lab using national care standards and Lab Manager– and faculty-approved evaluation criteria. This role supports student skill development, ensures a safe and effective learning environment, and assists with lab operations and program activities.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Student Instruction & Support
- Supervise and guide students in practicing nursing skills and patient care within the scope of a registered nurse following evidence-based practice.
- Host skill review workshops and lab referrals.
- Evaluate student performance using standardized criteria and provide timely feedback.
- Identify learning gaps and collaborate with the Lab Manager and course coordinator to address weaknesses.
- Act as a role model and resource for students regarding the nursing program and professional practice.
- Mentor students in special projects and activities (e.g., Pinning ceremonies, Welcome Back forum, health fairs, nursing club).
Learning Environment Development
- Foster an educational environment that promotes competence in nursing skills.
- Create physical, social, and working environments that facilitate learning.
- Integrate cross-cultural knowledge and diverse learning styles into simulated clinical practice.
Lab Operations & Maintenance
- Set up and maintain on-campus labs and instructional technology and equipment for student and faculty use.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, trouble shooting, and repair of equipment (e.g., IV pumps, simulated defibrillators, bladder scanners, mannequins).
- Receive deliveries, stock supplies, maintain lab inventory, and prepare course-specific supply carts and bins.
- Assist in the Simulation Center as needed.
Program & Faculty and Staff Support
- Assist the Lab Manager in onboarding new staff and in orienting new faculty to lab equipment, supplies, and procedures.
- Participate in program and committee meetings and contribute to curriculum planning including on-campus clinical instruction and evaluation.
- Promote community awareness of the nursing program by building relationships with individuals and organizations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license:
Maryland or a compact state. - Three years of nursing experience in acute care settings.
- Ability to provide safe, competent patient care for acutely ill medical-surgical patients using current standards of practice.
- Working knowledge of the methods, procedures and techniques of nursing work, tools, equipment and materials used in the trade, and hazard/safety precautions; of electronic medical records and current medication delivery methods.
- Experience performing medical surgical skills including but not limited to injection administration, intravenous infusion, foley insertion, wound care, central line dressing change, and trach care and suctioning.
- Ability to use a wide variety of medical equipment including but not limited to IV, tube feed, and PCA pumps and associated supplies, hospital beds, defibrillators and AED devices.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and ensure accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years acute care medical-surgical, step-down, ER, or Critical Care nursing experience.
Hiring Range: $74,267-$96,558 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $118,850.
