Registered Nurse; RN - Part Time OR - Surgery Center; Medical Insurance Eligible

Overview

Williamsburg, Virginia. No holidays, no weekends, and no call. Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Director, the RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients and may work in a variety of settings in the Critical Care/Telemetry Complex within Riverside Health System.

The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The RN is responsible for supervising and delegating non‑professional personnel working directly with them to ensure optimum patient care and must demonstrate competence in dealing with age‑related needs of the specific patient populations served in the Critical Care/Telemetry units.

• Demonstrate ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served in the Critical Care/Telemetry units (see unit‑specific competencies and equipment checklists).
• Partner with patients and families to develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care that contributes to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
• Assess and incorporate evidence‑based standards of practice.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in coordinating care.
• Facilitate safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of the plan of care.
• Demonstrate understanding of diverse patient populations and modify education methods to ensure patient/family comprehension.
• Educate patients by individually coordinating patient education and discharge‑specific education that includes the family/caregiver.
• Evaluate patient comprehension and document findings.
• Delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient needs are met.
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations.
• Assess own needs for support and utilize identified systems to meet those needs.
• Accurately complete all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput and assure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care.
• Focus on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer needs, including current evidence‑based practice and quality measures.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred).
• Experience:
  
  Critical care experience (Preferred).

• Registered Nurse (RN) – Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required).
• CPR/BLS Certification – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required).
• ACLS Provider – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required within 90days of start).
• PALS Provider – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required within 180days of start).
