Williamsburg, Virginia – Salary: $25.80 – $35.48 per hour, with actual pay determined by experience, education, and business needs.
OverviewPerforms duties under the direction or supervision of a licensed medical practitioner or a registered nurse, conducting focused assessments of patients, including vital signs and data gathering, implementing care plans, and evaluating treatment effectiveness in a medical practice setting.
What you will do- Accurately complete all required clinical documentation consistently per Riverside Medical Group standards.
- Maintain documentation for quality assurance, including point of care testing, medication logs, and annual wellness visits.
- Work with providers to assure care gaps are routinely addressed with each patient.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, legible, and completed the same day.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in laboratory functions, including proficiency testing.
- Maintain excellent clinical competency by adhering to standard clinical expectations, updating, verifying, and maintaining patient records, and properly interviewing patients to confirm purpose of visit.
- Prepare patients for examination by obtaining vital signs proficiently (including manual vital signs when mechanical devices are not available).
- Prepare and sanitize exam rooms before and after patient appointments.
- Administer medications and vaccines under physician supervision.
- Assist with prescription refill requests for approval and forwarding to pharmacies.
- Maintain medical inventory of supplies and keep exam rooms stocked appropriately.
- Keep equipment in operating order and facilitate preventive maintenance when needed.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations—including scope of practice, HIPAA, and OSHA standards.
- Complete all required competencies and education to maintain skill level for safe patient care.
- Provide patient education on necessary medications and explain importance of registration and medical history forms.
- Follow up with patients urgently regarding lab calls, prescription fills and refills, referrals and appointment scheduling.
- Answer telephone calls from patients, pharmacies, physicians, vendors, etc., by close of business.
- Communicate lab/pathology results and schedule additional tests per provider order.
- Ensure proper reimbursement from insurance companies through pre‑authorization of prescription drugs, procedures, and patient tests.
- Build trusting collaborative relationships with a multidisciplinary team and actively participate in team meetings as assigned.
- Program Graduate, Licensed Practical Nurse (Required).
- 1 year nursing experience (Preferred).
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) – required upon hire.
- CPR/BLS Certification – American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute – required upon hire.
