Overview

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the Med/Surg Department. The role supports the mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

• Perform various service duties and routine technical tasks such as vital signs and activities of daily living under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Perform duties specific to assignment area, considering the special needs and behaviors of patient populations.
• Participate in department and organizational education programs, meetings, committees, and professional initiatives.
• Commit to personal and professional development to adapt to ongoing change.
• Present a positive and professional image representing nursing and the organization.
• Follow the care plan established and delegated by the Registered Nurse; receive reports from the nurse.
• Ensure a culture of safety; identify resources necessary for safe delivery of patient care.
• Appropriately utilize resources; identify and report malfunctioning or expired equipment and supplies.
• Ensure work areas and equipment are cleaned and stored appropriately.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of a CNA or first‑year Nursing School Program and the CNA exam required.
• Maryland CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) License required.
• Certification as a Nursing Assistant by the State of Maryland and listed on the State of Maryland Registry.
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, and turn as required by the job.
• Experience in an acute care clinical setting preferred.

• Pay Range: $19.21 - $24.90 per hour
