Laboratory Technician
We are currently searching for a Laboratory Technician to support ongoing research activities requiring compound management services; complete standard and submitted service requests, maintain active and stored cell lines in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure viability; and ensure quality assurance and quality control of the RSC cell line inventory. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Rockville, MD.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide laboratory support for research activities, including compound management and maintenance of cell lines.
- Follow established procedures and protocols; utilize aseptic technique to perform experiments.
- Perform fundamental laboratory procedures, routine experiments, and specimen testing according to defined protocols.
- Prepare laboratory materials, reagents, specimens, and equipment for experiments.
- Maintain and manage sample inventory, including storage, retrieval, cataloging, and database updates.
- Perform quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of sample processing, storage, and testing systems.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks, databases, and logs; collect and organize data for analysis and reporting.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment; monitor performance and perform routine maintenance and calibration.
- Ensure laboratory supplies are stocked, organized, and available; track inventory and initiate purchase requests as needed.
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory instruments, glassware, and equipment.
- Coordinate laboratory logistics, including supply flow and waste management.
- Present updates and collaborate with lab staff on research activities.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of ONE (1) year of experience in a laboratory or research environment.
- Experience with laboratory techniques such as pipetting, aseptic technique, and sample handling.
- Experience with inventory management, maintaining stock solutions, and ordering laboratory supplies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing samples, data, and workflows.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and contribute to SOP development.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a laboratory setting.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.
Nice to have:
- Experience working in a biomedical or translational research environment (e.g., NIH/NCATS).
- Familiarity with biological sample types such as blood or tissue specimens.
- Experience maintaining laboratory databases and performing basic data analysis.
- Experience with laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration processes.
The annual salary range for this position is $49,000.00-$81,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
