The 3000‑square‑foot North Bethesda restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of the Canopy by Hilton Hotel (940 Rose Avenue, Bethesda) and boasts 138 seats, including a 14‑seat private dining room and a patio Delta Deadrise boat bar with 23 seats.
Responsibilities- Assist the Restaurant Manager in all phases of restaurant operations.
- Act as manager in the manager’s absence and oversee complete restaurant operation.
- Monitor servers, runners, and other restaurant associates; ensure adherence to service standards and SOPs, including staff appearance.
- Supervise guest service and respond to guest signals.
- Assist manager in establishing and monitoring side‑work duty completion.
- Maintain the bank to SOP; keep it balanced and secure at all times.
- Read daily communication sheets from the previous shift and prepare one for the following shift; verify personnel call‑offs and floor coverage.
- Inspect restaurant cleanliness and setup, including service stands, aisles, and tables.
- Communicate daily with the restaurant manager about special events, house counts, etc.
- Assist restaurant managers in conducting menu classes and taste panels.
High school education or equivalent.
ExperienceOne to two full years of employment in a related position with this company or another organization.
Knowledge / Skills- Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession, including management of people, complex problems, and food and beverage management.
- Excellent oral communication skills for communicating with guests and associates, issuing instructions, and communicating policies.
- Excellent comprehension for assisting with guest and associate matters and interpreting instructions from superiors.
- Excellent vision for seating guests, expediting food, cleaning equipment, reading floor plans, charts, and schedules.
- Lift, push, pull and carry tables, chairs, trays, plates, and chaffing dishes on a daily basis, 20–40 lbs.
- Bend to pick up dropped items or assist in serving food or getting supplies.
- No kneeling required.
- Mobility: 95% of the shift covering all areas of outlets supervising.
- Continuous standing to assist at hostess station; minimal stationary standing.
- Climbing stairs; varies by location.
- No driving required.
Inside 95% of the workday. Temperatures can exceed 100 °F when working at outdoor dining facilities and when assisting in the kitchen.
