Senior Java Software Engineer

Rockville, MD or Tysons, VA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

We’re looking for a Senior Java Developer who thrives on solving complex engineering challenges and enjoys building scalable, enterprise-grade applications. This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale distributed systems supporting massive unstructured data repositories while leveraging modern AWS cloud technologies.

We’re seeking a sharp, enthusiastic engineer with strong Java fundamentals, excellent system design skills, and experience building cloud-native applications. Experience with AWS and Dev Ops is highly preferred, but exceptional Java engineers with solid architectural experience and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications on AWS.
• Design and implement scalable metadata schemas and data models for unstructured content repositories supporting hundreds of millions of documents.
• Build high-performance backend services using Spring Boot, REST APIs, GraphQL, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Design scalable document ingestion, metadata processing, and persistence solutions.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Build cloud-native solutions utilizing AWS services.
• Assist with CI/CD implementation and promote Dev Ops best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architecture and design decisions.

• Strong Java development experience (Spring Boot)
• Strong object-oriented programming and system design skills
• Microservices and distributed architecture
• RESTful APIs and GraphQL
• AWS Cloud (Lambda, ECS, Fargate, S3, SQS, SNS, Step Functions, Aurora)
• Experience designing scalable data models and metadata schemas
