Structural Foam Process Technician

Job Summary

The Structural Foam Process Technician is responsible for the safe start‑up, shut‑down, and troubleshooting of the structural foam process during average production runs, as well as setting up structural foam molding machines and changeovers. Work includes collecting and analyzing production and quality data to perform problem‑solving and facilitate continuous improvement in production and purchasing.

• Perform tooling changes as per schedule, including setting dryers, thermometers, and processing functions of the molding machine, and line clearance activities.
• Ensure the first piece inspection is complete and the product is in conformance before releasing the line to total production.
• Monitor running machines, keeping process documentation up to date.
• Make process adjustments as required; identify issues related to material, tooling, or machine.
• Work closely with shift leadership and maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Actively participate in structural foam continuous improvement efforts.
• Assist the Process Engineer and ensure molding specifications are achieved.
• Troubleshoot in a safe manner, including tooling, press, and material handling systems.
• Work independently and with minimal supervision following the day’s planned schedule.
• Help sustain and develop the “5S” program, maintaining a clean and safe work area.
• Perform other activities as directed by supervision.

• Good mechanical skills, use of hand and power tools.
• Good understanding of quality and safety practices.

• Must understand and follow all departmental safety rules.
• Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Knowledge of ISO sections related to the position.

• Strong knowledge of all functions of the molding process.
• At least 2 years of experience as a process technician or mold setter.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work in a non‑climate‑controlled environment.
• Capacity to work overtime as needed.

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
• Use of hands for handling, grasping, and manipulating materials and tools.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

• Work performed in a manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.

The position is classified as non‑exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable law.
