JOB SUMMARY

The Process Technician is directly responsible for setup and the correct processing of all machines and equipment to meet the daily production schedule and productivity. The role also includes preventative maintenance and providing support to direct manufacturing activities to ensure quality parts are produced effectively and safely.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Setup and operate a variety of material handling, molding, finishing and assembly equipment (e.g., mold setup, cutter adjustments).
  • Responsible for mold change and machine adjustments.
  • Start up and shut down molding machines.
  • Operate forklift to perform mold changes and to move and organize molds.
  • Fill out daily process records necessary to control and maintain machine operating conditions.
  • Conduct minor repairs and change inserts as needed.
  • Operate, repair, and maintain high‑volume molding machines.
  • Monitor production quantities for color change, mold change and product completions.
  • Execute all activities within the scope of approved procedures and set priorities to accomplish pre‑determined goals based on production needs.
  • Monitor scrap produced from the process and effect changes needed to eliminate root causes of scrap.
  • Maintain an acceptable level of housekeeping by 5S standards in the assigned work area.
  • Promote, attain, and maintain safety, quality, and environmental awareness and requirements in the area of responsibility.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to equipment, machines, personnel, process, training, and materials that conflict with maximum quality of production and efficiency.
  • Provide recommendations to engineering on process improvement opportunities for processes, practices, equipment, performance, and efficiency of operations.
  • Inspect machines hourly in the assigned work area to ensure production of acceptable quality parts and to prevent mass production of defective parts (scrap).
  • Accurately report daily shift performances, including safety, quality, labor hours, production tickets, scrap and first part approvals.
  • Troubleshoot support equipment (grinders, blenders, hopper loaders, and chillers).
  • Inform Production Lead of all events affecting the flow of production.
  • Communicate with on‑coming team members regarding shift performance and scrap.
  • Act to promptly correct or remove all workplace hazards.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
ABILITY TO / TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
  • Must understand and follow all departmental safety rules.
  • Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Understand ISO sections pertaining to the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 3+ years of related molding plastics processing and maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience in machine start-up and shutdown; knowledge of basic machine functions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Basic data entry skills.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be able to speak, read, comprehend, and write in English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:
Standing, sitting, walking (continuously); speaking, verbal communication; bending, stooping, twisting neck and torso (frequently); reaching, holding, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting/carrying raw material, finished product, tools and machinery up to 50 pounds (frequently).

Working Conditions:

Work indoors and outdoors; exposure to temperatures commensurate with outdoor seasonal temperatures.
