The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting, assessing maternal and fetal health, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.

• Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques.
• Prepare equipment and aid physicians during labor, delivery, and examinations.
• Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn.
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies such as preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress using evidence‑based protocols.
• Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes.
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results.
• Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures.
• Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing.

• One year’s recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN.
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
• NPR (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification.

• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification.
• STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA / ARC).
• Other certifications and licenses may be required.

• Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient reading, writing, and communication in English.
• Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficient PC skills.
• Physical abilities: remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, bend.
• Interpersonal skills: work effectively with diverse personnel, maintain a positive attitude and professionalism.
• Technical/motor skills: grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, move during procedures.
• Mental requirements: cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work under close supervision occasionally or independently, handle irregular schedules, maintain concentration to detail.
