Overview
Nurse Practitioner - Pulmonary Medicine (Outpatient) – Baylor Scott & White Pulmonary Care Consultants, Rockwall, Texas. 100% outpatient role with a Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule and no inpatient responsibilities. The APN collaborates with board-certified pulmonologists to evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad spectrum of pulmonary and sleep-related disorders in an outpatient setting.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations for patients with pulmonary and sleep-related conditions.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic respiratory diseases in the outpatient setting.
- Develop evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate pulmonary function testing, laboratory studies, chest imaging, and other diagnostic testing.
- Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments within the scope of practice.
- Manage conditions such as asthma, COPD, chronic cough, shortness of breath, pulmonary nodules, lung masses, sleep apnea, and other pulmonary and sleep disorders.
- Provide education on disease management, inhaler therapies, oxygen therapy, smoking cessation, sleep hygiene, and preventive pulmonary care.
- Coordinate care with primary care providers, specialists, imaging departments, and ancillary services.
- Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record and initiate referrals when appropriate.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with organizational policies and clinical standards.
- 100% outpatient pulmonary medicine with no hospital rounding or inpatient responsibilities

- Education
:
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) program - Licensure & Certifications
:- Current Texas RN license or compact RN license
- Current Texas APRN license
- Current NP certification from an accredited national certifying body
- Current Texas Nurse Practitioner license
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer
- Preferred Experience
:
Experience in Pulmonary Medicine, Internal Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Critical Care, or Family Medicine; strong interest in pulmonary and sleep medicine
