Knowledge of:

• Maintenance Principles: processes involved in upkeep of property and equipment to the optimum state of cleanliness, repair, and efficiency.
• Office Software: current database programs including work order software, general programs used by the city and become trained on the City's SCADA software.
• Basic Math: add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly.
• Safety: enclosed space, trench safety, and safety procedures related to the job. Must wear required safety equipment and uniform.

Skill/Ability to :

• Cooperation: establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Accuracy: attention to detail in dealing with numbers, words, and ideas
• Mechanical/Technical: safely operating diverse equipment including hand tools, large pumps, meters, tractors, sewer equipment, fire hydrants and valves.
• Oral Comprehension: listening to and understanding information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
• Sequencing: correctly following a given rule or set of rules to arrange things or actions.
• Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Oral Expression: communicating information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

Education and Experience:

High school graduation or G.E.D. plus two years of related experience. Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Other Requirements

Preferred:
Must reside within a 60-minute response time from City Hall.

Certifications and Licenses

Required:

• Valid class C Texas driver's license.
• Desirable to maintain a "C" Water and Level I Wastewater TCEQ operations certificate or be able to obtain one 24 months from the date of employment.

Working Environment:

The person performing the duties of the Maintenance Worker
- Utilities may encounter the following working conditions: extreme vibration, dirty environment, electrical hazards, extreme temperatures or weather conditions, air contamination, moving mechanical parts, noise, machinery such as excavators, loaders, and dozers, and the responsibility for the safety of others.
