- In the Signal Laboratory, the Design Engineer 3 will be responsible for designing, supporting, and repairing traffic signal electronic equipment for the DOT's over 2,500 signalized intersections
- Develop and implement traffic signal system timing plans.
- Prioritize, schedule, assign, oversee and review work of lower-level staff.
- Direct operations staff to respond to system and equipment failures and to problem solve.
- Review shop drawings and signal design layout plans prepared both by the DOT and private sector engineers.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Applicants must be available to travel for training, conferences, meetings, field visits, etc. both within and outside of normal working hours, when necessary, and must possess and retain a valid driver’s license. Minimum Qualifications- General Experience
:
Seven (7) years of experience performing electrical engineering design. - Substitutions Allowed
:
College training in engineering may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree. - Special Requirements
:
Incumbents in this class may be required to travel. Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
