Location: Rocky Hill, CT (On-site)
Salary: $125,000–$190,000 + Performance Bonus + Sign-On Bonus ($5K–$10K)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader / Structural Engineer to lead NBIS-compliant bridge inspections for state DOT and transportation infrastructure projects.
This role includes managing and performing routine, in-depth, fracture critical, tunnel, and ancillary structure inspections in accordance with NBIS (National Bridge Inspection Standards) and FHWA guidelines, while leading field teams and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise bridge inspection teams on State DOT and public infrastructure projects
- Perform and oversee NBIS-compliant bridge inspections
- Conduct structural condition assessments
- Prepare and review inspection reports
Coordinate with DOT agencies and internal teams - Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Utilize specialized equipment such as snooper trucks, bucket trucks, rope access, and confined space procedures
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- EIT required; PE preferred (CT PE strongly preferred)
- 5+ years of NBIS bridge inspection experience
- NBIS-qualified Team Leader
- FHWA/NHI training (NHI 130055, 130078, tunnel and ancillary)
Technical Skills
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
- Load ratings and structural analysis
- AASHTOWare Bridge Rating (BrR) preferred
- Micro Station and/or AutoCAD
- Inspection reporting systems
