What you will do
Under general direction, support the construction sales team by assisting with pre- and post‑sales activities on building systems and equipment project opportunities. The role is primarily focused on equipment business execution, with a variable ratio of pre‑ and post‑sales activities based on branch type, assigned Account Executives, and customer expectations. Pre‑sales activities include system configuration validation, HVAC equipment and controls selection for basis of design, bidding, application and pricing.
Post‑sales activities include ensuring equipment project execution is profitable, accurate, on‑time, within contract scope, and aligned with customer expectations. Provide detailed engineering information and submittals to communicate design, configuration, operating and installation requirements to customers, consultants, Johnson Controls service, and necessary subcontractors. Work with the sales team to balance customer satisfaction and project financial results for both pre‑sale and post‑sale duties.
you will do it
Provide technical support, selections and limited estimating support to Account Executives during project design or proposal phase. Assist in developing the customer business case for the conceptual solution and support detailed estimating of projects. Validate assumptions made during proposal and development phase, build detailed cost estimates and scopes of work, and prepare proposals and other customer communication documents. Manage project profit and loss (P&L) and customer satisfaction for all assigned projects while utilizing the Johnson Controls equipment order execution process, including equipment orders, startup, and final payment.
Work closely with branch administration to manage backlog execution, schedule and forecast execution of equipment projects up to two years in advance. Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to develop and provide engineered equipment submittals in compliance with contract drawing, site coordination, and installation requirements. Verify approved equipment submittals and positive configuration acceptance before releasing equipment for fabrication. Evaluate contractual scope of supply and the impact of client‑issued bulletins, field directives, or scheduling changes.
Coordinate project schedules, maximize appropriate additional change orders, and perform associated cost estimates. Coordinate the factory equipment order process to ensure technical and commercial compliance with contract documents and site coordination requirements. Generate technical content of purchase orders for field‑purchased materials and equipment, select, order and track delivery, and coordinate shipping. Coordinate equipment delivery requirements with the customer, communicate project progress, issues and financial status to management, review vendor invoices for compliance, coordinate post‑shipment services, and visit customer sites to ensure delivery and receipt of critical equipment complies with expectations.
Ensure project documentation is compliant with contract requirements, Johnson Controls standards, and the equipment order execution process. Answer engineered equipment and controls application questions from potential customers and other sales channels, develop and maintain long‑term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors and subcontractors, attend job progress meetings, coordinate customer‑training requirements, and work with Customer Operations Associate to address billing, collections, and payment issues.
