- Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of building automation systems.
- Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions using extensive knowledge of electronic and digital controls systems, testing, and software modifications.
- Consult with customers through data gathering and site assessments, providing field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, or enhancements to existing equipment.
- Assist sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads.
- Manage assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution and customer satisfaction, reporting problems or changes to management immediately.
- Interface with branch manager, service manager, service project manager, or subcontractors to coordinate project activities.
- Provide sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings; assist with job layouts and bid proposals.
- Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and promoting add‑on work.
- Adhere to all Johnson Controls safety standards, providing safety leadership and instruction to all technicians and subcontractors on site.
- Train customers in control systems operations, delivering manuals and documentation as required.
- Mentor Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems, coaching and training the technical workforce on non‑complex, non‑critical equipment.
- Compile job documentation, including certificates of completion, training forms, certificates, and punch lists.
- Conduct extensive self‑study to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company product lines; complete required certifications.
- Assist in the design and configuration of building control systems, creating flow diagrams, sequences of operations, bills of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics.
- Assist in developing and testing software programs necessary for project requirements.
- Compile and complete project as‑built and close‑out documentation.
- Coordinate and create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
- Select, order, and track delivery of materials; coordinate factory‑mounting processes to meet schedules.
- Assist in loading and commissioning all system and network‑level controllers; validate system functionality and troubleshoot with subcontractors and other trades.
- Provide field change information to the project team for as‑built drawings and software.
- Keep management, contractor, or customer informed of job progress and issues.
- Perform site‑specific training for owner/operator on the building control system.
- Participate in release meetings with project field team.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure efficient facility operation, including upselling opportunities; provide quotes to support recommendations.
- Dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and responsible for system troubleshooting, repair, and aftermarket services.
- Minimum of four (4) years of commercial controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including buildings, chiller plants, and systems.
- Vocational school graduate, associate's degree in a technical field, or two years’ experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to install and/or service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment.
- Effective communication skills to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites.
- Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Demonstrated effective writing skills and understanding of programs and software applications.
