Job Summary
Primary responsibilities include organizing and directing all general accounting and financial activities for the client’s project. This includes reconciling operational and financial records across multiple systems, managing operational and financial audits (cash and inventory), interfacing with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and auditors, improving process controls and efficiencies, coordinating accounting functions, reporting, receivables and payables, achieving monthly performance measures, and supervising general accounting staff.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Develop accounting standard operating procedures including internal controls.
- Direct, monitor, and evaluate the activities and performance of the accounting processes and staff.
- Monitor accounting systems and procedures and recommend necessary updates.
- Oversee weekly payables and customer refunds.
- Oversee preparation of daily and monthly journal entries.
- Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and analysis for the client.
- Oversee preparation of daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations.
- Perform evaluations of back‑office operating software, identify areas for efficiency, and recommend improvements.
- Ensure daily and monthly key performance measures are achieved.
- Participate in internal project meetings and client meetings.
- Interface with clients, subcontractors, vendors and internal/external auditors.
- Oversee internal audits such as monthly physical inventory audit.
- Oversee external audits such as SOC 1 Type II audit.
- Keep abreast of current accounting trends, practices, and developments including governmental accounting standards, GAAP and GASB.
- Supervisor may assign other duties as needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to learn and utilize new software products.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Above average skill in PC computers, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions and to write correspondence and staff memos.
- Ability to present information in one-on-one situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or community members.
- Ability to translate operational issues into financial risk assessments.
- Ability to present information to top management and public groups.
- Experience in a high-volume, regulated transaction environment.
- Ability to safely perform job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Primarily sedentary work requiring ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to lift, carry, walk and stand.
- Vision for reading, recording, and interpreting information.
- Frequent speech communication, hearing and listening.
- Daily use of computer, keyboard, standard office equipment and telephone.
- Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer.
- Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard and office equipment.
- Noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
- Responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of accounting and finance teams of one to three members.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- B.A. or B.S. degree in Accounting or related field.
- Active CPA license preferred but not required.
- Five (5) years of financial and accounting experience, including management or leadership positions overseeing accounting operations in a GAAP compliant, high-volume, transaction processing environment performing revenue management, process audits and similar functions.
- Experience with tolling back‑office systems preferred.
- Ability to package and present quantitative data effectively.
