Position: Title I Reach Associate

Reach Associate Position

This position is supported by federal grant funding and is approved for one fiscal year at a time. Continued employment is contingent upon annual grant renewal, availability of federal funds, programmatic needs, and employee performance. No expectation of continued employment beyond the current grant period is implied or guaranteed. If grant funding is reduced, expires, or is not renewed, the position may be discontinued.

General Summary

The Reach Associate (RA) assists with instruction and takes responsibility for the non-instructional duties of one or more teachers, as designated by each teacher. He or she assists with and facilitates small and large group student learning, with and without technology. He or she works closely with the teacher(s) to coordinate various administrative duties and completes non-instructional paperwork. He or she manages procedures and supervises student behavior during transitions, lunch, recess, assemblies, and other unstructured activities, and while the teacher(s) deliver instruction.

RA positions are classified positions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Instructional Assistance:
    Helps deliver classroom instruction, under the direction and using tools of the supervising teacher(s).
  • Classroom and School Environment:
    Hold students accountable for high expectations of behavior and engagement that are ambitious and measurable; contribute to a culture of respect, enthusiasm, and rapport; manage student behavior during transitions and less structured time (e.g., recess, lunch); monitor independent work time in classroom while teacher provides instruction.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Solicit and eagerly receive feedback from supervisor and team members to improve professional skills.
  • Maintain administrative duties on behalf of teacher (such as taking attendance, entering grades, scheduling parent conferences, preparing student activities and assignments, checking homework, additional paperwork).
  • Collaborate with teacher(s), tutor(s) and digital lab monitor(s).
  • Participate in professional development opportunities at school.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Bachelor's degree a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of subject matter being taught.
  • Must be willing to obtain a bus driver's license; bus driving responsibilities assigned by school administration.
  • If currently an ECPS Teacher Assistant, ratings of "At or Above Standard" in all areas on most recent Annual (summative) evaluation.

5 days a week throughout the school year; 8 hours a day, including paid breaks.
