Early Learning Transition & Content Specialist

Salary Grade:
Certified Salary Schedule-% funded through Smart Start grant and NC PreK
Nature Of Work:
Through collaborative efforts, an employee in this position will work with elementary schools, community childcare partners, families, and community agencies to support seamless transitions to kindergarten for all stakeholders. The Early Learning Transition Content Specialist will also draw upon their teaching experience to serve as an expert resource for all preschool teachers.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
Additional duties may be assigned.
• Facilitate Nash County Public Schools transition to kindergarten committee meetings, Ready Schools, Early Childhood Community Partners and other community meetings as they relate to transition to kindergarten
• Support and facilitate all NCPS elementary schools and a minimum of 10 community childcare centers in the development of transition to kindergarten plans
• Monitor, evaluate, edit, transition to kindergarten plans to identify opportunities for growth for elementary schools and community childcare partners
• Serve as a liaison between community child care partners, elementary schools, Family Resource Centers, families and other community partners to strengthen efforts around best practices to support seamless transition to kindergarten
• Attend and assist in the planning and implementation of transition events at elementary schools and community childcare centers such as, family nights, parents workshops, presentations on kindergarten readiness as needed
• Coordinate transition planning for incoming kindergarten families
• Facilitate meetings and sharing of information about transition to kindergarten best practices
• Support elementary schools with Title I and Ready Schools plans as they relate to transition to kindergarten
• Disseminate information and materials related to transition to kindergarten events, activities, and kindergarten registration to elementary schools, families, community child care partners, agencies, businesses and organizations
• Support and organize the kindergarten registration process
• Compile data and numbers, on a monthly basis, from various sources and create documents such as, but not limited to, spreadsheets and presentations, for the purpose of sharing data with all stakeholders. To include data of prospective upcoming kindergarten students.
• Maintain compliance with Smart Start grant by maintaining required documentation as evidence of work to complete quarterly reports, cash in-kind reports, and monitoring
• Support and coach preschool teachers in creating an environment conducive to effective instruction
• Coach new preschool teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate practices that support high-quality early childhood instruction.
• Observe and provide feedback to teachers district-wide on effective instructional design, instructional delivery, and content area knowledge
• Other duties as assigned
