Job DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION: Exploring Biotechnology in Health Science/Career Exploration Teacher
POSITION: Health Science (CTE) Teacher
SALARY GRADE: State Salary Schedule plus local supplement
NATURE OF WORK: An employee in this class provides direct instruction to students regarding career and technical education. Required course content will be exploring biotechnology in health science and general career exploration courses to better prepare students to make better decisions relevant to being career and college ready in the 21 st century. A wide variety of tasks are performed in the teaching-learning process for students, the primary one being to help students learn the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible adults.
A teacher performs his/her duties under the supervision of, and reports to, the principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Additional Duties may be assigned.
- Teaches District approved curriculum
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
- Plans a program of study, employing a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students
- Assists in diagnosing the learning disabilities of students, with the assistance of district specialists
- Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day
