What You Will Achieve

Working with Pfizer’s dynamic engineering team, you will play a critical part in managing the maintenance and reliability engineering activities involving the redesign, maintenance, and repair of critical utilities HVAC systems, buildings, and production/non-production equipment. As HVAC Systems Engineer, you will provide cross-functional support to operational teams for site GMP utilities. You will be setting priorities, forecasting, and allocating resources needed to complete all preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, as well as providing areas of improvement for products, processes, or services.

Through your comprehensive knowledge of principles, concepts, and theories of the discipline, you will also work towards advancing new concepts and methodologies. This role is a site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for site GMP and commercial HVAC infrastructure and systems. The position has specific responsibility to participate in cross functional site improvements (design, commissioning, qualification maintenance/repair) of all HVAC systems and associated support systems.

How You Will Achieve It

The HVAC Systems Engineer will be responsible for effective, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the site s GMP and commercial HVAC systems, as well as ancillary systems, maintaining all these systems in a state of compliance, in-control, and fit for use, capable of meeting all site needs. This role will also drive continuous improvement initiatives, cost saving and other department initiatives.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deep technical expertise in all systems under responsibility (GMP and commercial HVAC and ancillary systems) and understanding their applications in pharmaceutical aseptic manufacturing.
  • Provide technical SME support for mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic improvements or changes that impact HVAC maintenance and operations.
  • Supervision of site HVAC technicians.
  • Promote, participate, and supervise the implementation and maintenance of relevant safety programs in the engineering department.
  • Identify and implement energy cost savings projects.
  • Develop and modify procedures as needed to support HVAC systems.
  • Lead or support compliance requirements for the Utilities areas, including SOPs, change control, quality investigations and CAPAs.
  • Liaise with internal/external engineering personnel and contract maintenance providers for maintaining, troubleshooting, installing/commissioning and servicing equipment.
  • Support Production Operations in ensuring utilities equipment is maintained to meet GMP requirements.
  • Support utilities areas in Regulatory/FDA inspections ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with QC Micro, Operations, QA, Reliability, and other Engineering functional areas.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with SOPs, cGMP, safety procedures, quality standards, OSHA standards, regulatory requirements, and good maintenance practices.
  • Support facilities, utilities, and infrastructure asset life-cycle replacement strategies and capital investment plans.
  • Develop and write equipment specifications, user requirement specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis, capital projects, change controls, and proposals for integrating new machinery-utilities into the site.
