A Nurse Practitioner functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities- Clinical:
Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests. Develops differential diagnoses and implements treatment plans, including prescribing medication, scheduling follow‑up, and conducting preventive screenings. Maintains accurate records and updates plans as patient needs change. Prioritizes work, assists staff to maintain efficient client flow, and leads projects to improve productivity. Performs medical procedures consistent with guidelines and privileges. - Education:
Educates clients and families on medical conditions, treatments and follow‑up. Provides educational materials and instruction to clinicians and staff. Supports self‑learning needs and attends education programs. - Leadership:
Provides instruction to physicians, house staff and staff; precepts, lectures, and conducts training sessions. Participates in community outreach, develops programs, and leads system improvement initiatives. - Professional:
Interacts with patients, families, and coworkers respectfully, courteously, and timely. Resolves problems quickly, shares workload responsibility and accepts responsibility for outcomes. - Quality/Research:
Engages in continuous quality improvement, consults with management, leads interdisciplinary teams, initiates protocol revisions, and develops new clinical programs to improve patient care.
- Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
- Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, etc.) in North Carolina.
- Board certification, if required by the department. DEA registration.
- No prior experience required.
- Demonstrated clinical competency.
- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
- Effective patient‑care interaction and accurate medical‑record documentation.
