Summary
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. The Clinical Nurse reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities- Education – Participate in self‑learning, attend relevant educational programs, use patient education materials, and assess readiness to learn of patients, families, or caregivers.
- Evaluation of Care – Identify expected patient outcomes, seek guidance when revising the plan of care, and discuss patient care with the interdisciplinary team to promote continuity of care.
- Implementation – Provide care for patients with complex problems, perform bedside point‑of‑care testing as required, and follow organizational policies and procedures. Prioritize care and consult appropriate resources for complex issues or high‑risk discharge planning.
- Leadership – Set professional growth goals, participate in unit goal development and performance improvement activities, promote cost‑effective care, and give constructive feedback to coworkers. Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment.
- Patient Assessment – Recognize data from complex situations to determine care priorities, synthesize assessment data, and anticipate discharge needs. Build relationships that empower families to advocate for patient and family needs.
- Planning – Collaborate with patients and families to prepare or update the plan of care, utilize multidisciplinary resources, address cultural and ethnic issues, and prioritize tasks for complex problems.
- Research – Read relevant journals, bring ideas and questions to staff discussions, and assess applicability to practice.
- Education – Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
- Licensure – Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
- Certification – Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider.
- Experience – One year of nursing experience.
