Security Specialist

Salary: $17.25 per hour

AP teams protect guests, team members and the brand by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud, and leading through crisis events. They build relationships with store leaders and public safety officials.

Target Security Specialist highlights:

• Use intelligence‑led tactics to keep team members and guests safe.
• Experience in crisis response, safety, and crowd management.
• De‑escalation skills and physical security controls.
• Operate Target's video surveillance system.
• Document cases accurately in the case‑management system.

• Greet guests at the front of store, creating a welcoming experience.
• Promote a physical security culture by maintaining safe standards throughout the store, including exterior property.
• Respond to security incidents and document them promptly.
• Use de‑escalation tactics and resources for all incidents.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide support for apprehension as needed.
• Check merchandise receipts to prevent theft and shortage at the front of store.
• Submit documentation in the case‑management system per AP policy.
• Leverage Target's video surveillance system appropriately.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
• Work safely at all times and report hazards.
• Perform other duties as required by business needs.

• Minimum age 18 and High School diploma or equivalent.
• State or local licensure or other legal requirements met.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks independently.
• Comfortable in a fast‑moving, physically demanding environment.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and climb ladders.
