Position SummaryOpportunities Industrialization Center, Inc. (OIC, Inc.) is seeking a dependable and experienced Over-the-Road (OTR) Class A CDL Driver to join our VABS Trucking team. The OTR Class A CDL Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation and delivery of freight to various locations.
This position requires a valid Class A CDL and the ability to travel as assigned.
Overnight travel is required
, and travel schedules may vary based on operational and business needs. The ideal candidate will have strong driving skills, a commitment to safety, reliable attendance, and the ability to work independently while maintaining professional communication with dispatch, customers, and team members.
- Safely operate Class A commercial motor vehicles in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Transport and deliver freight safely and efficiently to assigned locations.
- Complete routes that may require overnight and occasional multi-day travel
. - Travel within the state and to locations outside the immediate service area as assigned.
- Properly load, unload, and secure freight as required.
- Conduct required pre-trip, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, trip reports, delivery documentation, and other required records.
- Operate and maintain electronic logging devices (ELDs) as required.
- Report vehicle maintenance issues, safety concerns, accidents, delays, or other operational issues promptly.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and management regarding routes, deliveries, delays, and transportation concerns.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customers, vendors, and the public.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to transportation, safety, drug and alcohol testing, and vehicle operation.
- Maintain compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Safely operate vehicles in varying traffic, road, and weather conditions.
- Assist with loading and unloading freight when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe vehicle and work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate or ability to obtain and maintain one as required.
- Previous commercial driving experience preferred;
OTR or regional driving experience strongly preferred. - Clean and acceptable driving record.
- Must meet all applicable DOT and FMCSA requirements.
- Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to pass a background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
- Knowledge of safe commercial driving practices and applicable DOT regulations.
- Reliable attendance and dependable work history.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Overnight travel is required.
- Must be willing and able to travel as assigned based on business and operational needs.

- Must be flexible with work schedules based on transportation needs, including occasional weekends, early mornings, evenings, or holidays.
- Ability to sit and operate a commercial vehicle for extended periods.
- Ability to enter and exit a commercial vehicle repeatedly.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull freight and equipment as required.
- Ability to assist with loading and unloading cargo.
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb, and perform physical activities associated with commercial driving and freight handling.
- Ability to safely perform job duties in varying weather and environmental conditions.
- Two or more years of Class A CDL driving experience.
- Previous OTR, regional, or long-distance driving experience.
- Experience operating commercial vehicles and trailers.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
