Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing LISA Rogers-Bentonville Elementary's 3rd-grade Math and Science curriculum. This role involves documenting teaching and student progress, addressing the specific educational needs of individual students, and creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment, particularly for hands‑on scientific inquiry. The teacher will provide continuous feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and STEM learning goals.

Essential

Functions
  • Curriculum & Instruction: Develops and administers the 3rd-grade Math and Science curriculum consistent with LISA Rogers-Bentonville Elementary's educational goals and objectives.

  • Learning Environment: Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, small group collaboration, and hands‑on scientific exploration.

  • Lesson Planning: Develops inquiry-based lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into engaging learning experiences (such as experiments and observational studies) to best utilize instructional time.

  • Assessment: Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student needs—including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.

  • Citizenship & Safety: Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship, foundational laboratory safety, and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as the administrative regulations and procedures of the school system.

  • Professional Growth: Continues to acquire professio nal knowledge and learn of current developments in elementary Math & Science and STEM education by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research.

  • Record-Keeping: Organizes a nd maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by school procedures and applicable laws.

  • Community Engagement: Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents regarding science projects, progress, and upcoming classroom events.

  • Classroom Management: Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and policies, establishing and maintaining the standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a safe, functional learning atmosphere, especially during interactive science activities.

  • Collaboration: Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members—especially within the 3rd-grade team—to evaluate and assess curriculum, integrate cross-curricular concepts, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.

  • Resource Management: Selects and requisitions appropriate Math and Science books, lab materials, instructional aids, and equipment, while maintaining accurate inventory records of classroom supplies.

  • Supervision: Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including outdoor science observations and activities involving school transportation.

  • Testing: Administers standardized tests in accordance with state and school testing programs.
