Mechanical Engineer – Buildings
Location:
Rogers, Arkansas
As part of the Buildings Group for Garver, this Mechanical Engineer will develop mechanical designs in support of various Buildings Design Business Line projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning, design, and commissioning of building HVAC systems
- Planning, design, and commissioning of building plumbing systems
- Planning, design, and commissioning of building fire protection systems
- Whole building energy modeling
- Building sustainability requirements reporting
Additional duties: coordination with support disciplines and regional offices, assisting project managers, following QA/QC plans, periodic travel to project sites.
Abilities & Attributes- Knowledge of mechanical engineering and sustainability principles
- Mentor and train technical staff
- Interface with clients on project design, delivery, and construction
- Manage project budget and schedule compliance
- Oversee mechanical design throughout conceptual, design, and construction phases
- Utilize BIM design software to produce construction drawings
- Use Microsoft Excel-based calculation tools for design calculations
- Manage multiple assignments concurrently
- Responsible for time management and product quality
- Follow QA/QC plans
- Continuously pursue continuing education and learning
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering with a mechanical focus from an ABET-accredited university or college
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam
- 5–10 years of building design and construction industry experience
- Strong knowledge base of mechanical engineering principles related to building mechanical designs
- Proven experience overseeing mechanical designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects
- Technical competence in building mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection)
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with Autodesk Revit
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- Experience with AIA Master Spec
- Knowledge of Federal Agencies design criteria
