Fire Protection Designer

As part of the Buildings Group for Garver, the Fire Protection Designer will develop fire protection designs in support of various Buildings Business Line projects. Responsibilities include designing building fire protection, suppression, and alarm systems, coordinating with other support disciplines, regional offices, and assisting fire protection engineers in the design of building projects while following quality assurance and quality control plans.
Responsibilities- Design building fire protection systems.
- Design building fire suppression systems.
- Design building fire alarm systems.
- Coordinate with project teams on design, delivery, and construction.
- Follow quality assurance and quality control plans.
- Knowledge of fire protection, suppression, and alarm principles.
- Interfacing with project teams on design, delivery, and construction.
- Managing project budget and schedule compliance.
- Manage multiple assignments concurrently.
- Time management and product quality focus.
- Use BIM design software to produce construction drawings.
- Use software‑based calculation tools for design calculations.
- Continue education and learning as needed.
- 5–10 years of building fire protection design and construction experience.
- Knowledge base of fire protection engineering principals related to building fire protection designs.
- Proven experience with fire protection designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects.
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- NICET certification in Fire Protection.
- Experience with AIA Master Spec.
- Knowledge of Federal Agencies design criteria.
