Overview
As part of the Buildings team for Garver, the Mechanical Engineer will develop mechanical designs for various Buildings projects. This includes planning, design, commissioning of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, whole building energy modeling and sustainability requirements reporting. The role also involves coordination with other support disciplines and regional offices, assisting project managers, following QA/QC plans, and periodic travel to project sites.
Responsibilities- Develop mechanical designs for building HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems.
- Perform whole building energy modeling and sustainability requirement reporting.
- Coordinate with other disciplines and regional offices.
- Assist project managers in project management tasks.
- Follow quality assurance and quality control plans.
- Travel periodically to project sites.
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering and sustainability principles.
- Experience using BIM design software to produce construction drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel based calculation tools for design calculations.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently and maintain time management and product quality.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project accounting.
- Follow quality assurance and quality control plans.
- Commit to continuing education and learning based on project and team needs.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering with a mechanical focus from an ABET-accredited university or college.
- Minimum 3 years of building design and construction industry experience.
- Strong knowledge base of mechanical engineering principles related to building mechanical designs.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
- Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD.
- Experience with Carrier HAP or similar HVAC load analysis program.
- Experience with AIA Master Spec.
