IMEG, a 100% employee‑owned firm, is hiring an Electrical Project Designer in Rogers, Arkansas. The role focuses on engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems for buildings, working closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, using engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, communicate technical information effectively, and build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
  • Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives, collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
  • Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress related to percent complete and fee expended.
  • Analyze engineering problems and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions.
  • Provide in‑process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, and specifications.
  • Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager.
  • Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience minimum in the building design consulting industry (4 years preferred).
Alternative Path
  • Associate’s degree or certificate in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred.
  • 7 years of experience minimum in the building design consulting or construction industry (8 years preferred).
Skills & Abilities
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings.
  • Proficient with industry‑standard engineering software and tools (e.g., lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power; BIM software and CTC Revit Add‑In Tools).
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards.
  • Proficiency with energy compliance software such as Com Check, Adobe or Bluebeam Revu, and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, Tech Street, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI).
  • Proficiency in Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc., and knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS.
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
