The incumbent is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing technical problems involving desktops and peripheral devices, and provides support to staff with computer hardware and software issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Deploy new and used computers.
- Securely erase computers and prepare them for sale or other disposal.
- Provide research as needed.
- Evaluate new software and hardware.
- Assist in solving and repairing problems with desktop computers and peripherals.
- Install software and hardware.
- Perform basic network troubleshooting.
- Travel to off‑site locations to repair problems.
- Move computers as necessary including storage areas.
- Maintain inventory of computers.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEKnowledge of a specialized field (such as basic accounting or computer). Equivalent to four years of high school plus additional education, or two years of college plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLSAbility to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person‑to‑person and small group situations with customers, clients, the general public, and other employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLSAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram formats.
