Job DescriptionThis role supports Arvato’s newest data center services, delivering critical solutions such as high-security transport, white-glove delivery, and technical support. Our clients include hyperscale data center operators, high-tech freight forwarders, co-location providers, and Software as a Service (SaaS) companies.
The Data Center Technician assumes a critical role in the installation and upkeep of cabling to guarantee seamless operations of hardware networks, including equipment and server/network rack decommissioning.
Tasks- Arrive at clients’ sites on time, with all required equipment, uniform, procedures, documentation, and PPE.
- Cable server racks by patching and dressing fibre and copper cables (in certain regions, and training will be provided).
- Provide industry-leading customer service levels by always acting professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Follow clients’ procedures and requirements, including health and safety, and security.
- Communicate with colleagues, including managers, planners, team leaders and supervisors, in a consistent, timely, and efficient manner. Reports include arrival times, delays, safety concerns, and completion times.
- Complete daily checklists and provide reports on daily activities or tasks, including other general administration tasks.
- Valid driving license with a good driving record.
- Ability to travel for business needs.
- Basic experience with hand and power tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and email.
- Prior experience in a data center, logistics or construction environment preferred.
- Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment preferred.
- Familiarity with common networking terms, cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies preferred.
- Prior experience with medium to large, complex project scopes and ambiguous details within work environment strongly preferred.
- Experience with common tools related to network troubleshooting, including VFLs, OTDR and power meters preferred.
Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including Routers, Switches and other network gear preferred.
