Position: CNC OPERATOR - CABINET SHOP

Job Summary

Produces aircraft parts using CNC equipment, shop tools, and standard aircraft materials at or above the expected standards of safety, quality, schedule and cost, using engineering and industrial definitions, procedures and guidelines that support the delivery to the aircraft for all aircraft models. Promote and foster a positive work environment, and display a respectful attitude.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities (essential Functions)
  • Work with CNC programs, 2D/3D data, company standards, work instructions, and perform necessary calculations using math to complete tasks related to making aircraft parts.
  • Set up, operate, perform calibrations and preventive maintenance on all standard shop equipment or tools related to the CNC process according to specifications.
  • Perform non-CNC machine related processes per procedures and standards with emphasis on quality, consistency and safety.
  • Select and verify materials from stock to manufacture parts and maintain traceability of materials per process.
  • Communicate and interact with programmers and management to understand intricacies of programs and to efficiently operate the machines.
  • Promptly inform Team Leader and maintenance of any unplanned machine down time.
  • Perform quality and self-checks of fabricated items per company procedures.
  • Determine work to be accomplished, to complete assignments within established plans accordingly to expected standards of safety, quality, schedule and cost.
  • Accurately log computerized labor data collection for time and attendance tracking.
  • Learn the capability of running multiple types of CNC machines.
  • Creates and attaches parts identification labels to completed parts when applicable.
  • Communicates and interacts well with co-workers and management.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Works in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA and company safety procedures.
  • Supports and proposes continuous improvement to management.
  • Embraces ACE values with peers and helps foster a work environment aimed at operational excellence.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months of CNC machining experience.
  • Ability to learn one (1) CNC machine with emphasis on quality, consistency and safety.
  • 3-axis double table start-up / shut down and operating system.
  • 3-axis single table start-up / shut down and operating system.
  • Must have the ability to learn or be knowledgeable in all aspects in one (1) of the below items with emphasis on quality, consistency and safety: insert preparation and installation, edgefill flat and curved panels, burn process, Gerber machine, ASP process.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic machine principles.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Conscious of the importance of schedules and budgets.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Able to use and work with common hand tools.
  • Ability to set up and operate and perform preventive maintenance on all standard equipment or tools related to the CNC machining process.
  • Able to work with engineering and industrial definition using 2D/3D data, company standards and work instructions to CNC machine aircraft cabinet components.
  • Good working knowledge of math and geometry and able to work in both metric and imperial units of measure.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Visual capacity and muscular dexterity to work on fine detail, high cost products with a minimum of errors and rework.
  • Must be able to work with adhesives and chemicals.
  • Must not be abnormally allergic to solvents, or other CNC related products that produce fumes or dust while using.
Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Programming knowledge and/or experience.
  • Ability to solve practical problems when needed.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Working Conditions
