Summary/ObjectiveThe Sr. Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving production assembly line operations, tooling, and manufacturing processes across the organization's business units (BUs). This role designs tooling and fixturing, drives cost-down initiatives, optimizes assembly line performance, and supports vendor sourcing and quality efforts. The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer collaborates cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams to deliver safe, efficient, reliable, and cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
Strong analytical skills, working knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles, and proven experience in production support and process improvement are essential for success in this position.
- Support production assembly line improvements and troubleshooting across BUs
- Optimize assembly line processes for throughput, efficiency, and ergonomics
- Design tooling and fixturing to support assembly and manufacturing processes
- Drive and support cost-down activities across manufacturing operations
- Evaluate and approve alternate vendor sources for components and materials
- Collaborate with Quality on vendor quality, incoming inspection, assembly/manufacturing quality, and out-going quality
- Responsible for providing engineering support for the design, development, production, and quality inspections of new and current products
- Ensure manufacturing documentation is well documented and up to date within PDM
- Ensure engineering procedures and standards are followed
- Drive project success through on-time delivery and efficient collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Identify opportunities for procedural enhancements and implement technical tools to streamline processes and drive operational efficiency
- Operates independently with limited guidance from managers and/or senior engineers
- Successfully partners with teammates, suppliers, and customers domestically and globally as appropriate
- Uses data to support and communicate technical decisions
- Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software (i.e., Solid Works) to create tooling and fixtures
- Produces manufacturing/tooling specifications and chooses raw materials and components for production
- Drives cost analysis and optimization efforts to create accurate BOM and ensure that targets are met
- Provides technical guidance and support to BU Owners and Production Managers
