SUMMARY:
Provides quality nursing support to clients of FPS and ADDT by coordinating medical and health related care, documentation, and services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but are not limited to:
Collects and documents patient health data, assists with the implementation of care plans, monitors and reports patient responses to care, and collaborates with families and healthcare providers under the direction of a supervising nurse or physician.
Administers ordered medications and performs medical procedures as needed or determined by the supervisor within LPN Scope of Practice.
Performs initial screening and reviews medical history on potential candidates for Friendship Pediatric Services (FPS).Monitors, observes, and documents pediatric health status, behaviors, and responses to care.
Reports changes in condition, incidents, or concerns promptly to the supervising nurse or healthcare provider.
Provides routine medical information to parent/guardian as requested.
Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies and procedures.
Coordinates and follows up on medical and health related services, appointments, and documentation for pediatric individuals.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, families, caregivers, and direct support staff to support child health, safety, and well being.
Provides guidance, oversight, and education to clients and support staff regarding health needs, medications, and care procedures as directed.
Follows established safety, emergency, and infection control procedures appropriate to pediatric care.
Acts as a first responder to accidents and incidents in accordance with training, policies and procedures, and scope of practice.
Serves as resource for health and safety practices within the preschool setting and in accordance with policies, procedures, and scope of practice.
Ensures required safety drills are completed and documented each month in accordance with FCC procedures.
Monitors safety conditions and practices and promptly reports identified concerns, violations, or potential hazards to supervisors.
Provides assistance, guidance, and oversight to clients and support staff with personal hygiene needs, including bathing, grooming, nail care, and hair care, as needed and in accordance with care plans.
Assemble and properly use medical equipment.
Performs approved nursing procedures such as respiratory treatments, catheterizations, tube feedings, blood glucose monitoring, and pulse oximetry as ordered and within scope of practice; provides guidance, training, and oversight to assigned staff performing delegated treatments, as appropriate.
Maintains proper storage, handling, and inventory of all medications and medical supplies.
Maintains compliance with OSHA standards regarding blood borne pathogens in accordance with FCC policies and procedures.
Ensures required medical supplies are available and maintained in classrooms and transportation vehicles in accordance with organizational policy.
Routinely updates client medical information in the EHR, including records of accidents or injuries, immunizations, and physical exams, in accordance with care plans and organizational policy.
Collects and documents clients’ vital signs, height, and weight as ordered by a physician, reporting results to supervising nurse or healthcare provider as appropriate.
Consults with physicians, local and regional healthcare providers, and case management staff as needed.
Provides staff training in CPR and First Aid for the region as needed.
Provides training for staff at pediatric and ADDT sites as assigned and as needed.
Conducts safety checks at various facilities as assigned and in accordance with FCC policies and procedures.
Ensures that FCC policies and procedures are maintained and followed, and that the nursing department operates in compliance with organizational guidelines and all applicable state regulatory requirements, including Minimum Licensing Requirements for Childcare Centers, EIDT, ADDT, health and fire regulations, and other safety related rules.
Ensures safe, clean facilities are maintained.
Keeps current on developments, trends, and best practices in serving children with developmental disabilities.
Participates in conferences, in service training, and other professional development activities as required by DDS and/or organizational administration, including occasional out of town travel.
Performs other duties as assigned.
