RN Nurse, ICU Nurse, Emergency Medicine
Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care while maintaining professional accountability for assigned patients. The RN evaluates the effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers and coordinates patient care collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. This position upholds patient rights, maintains confidentiality, and performs all duties in alignment with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards.
The PCU is a unit that provides care to patients age 18 and older who require a higher level of care and surveillance than a general med/surg floor but do not require critical care in an intensive care unit. The PCU patient population at any given time is a cross sample of the hospital census, just to a slightly more acute degree.

Clinically, patients may present with a variety of medical needs including: new onset asymptomatic dysrhythmia responding to treatment; hypertensive or hypotensive urgency; hemodynamically stable myocardial infarction;
stable neurological deficits; confusion, agitation, or substance withdrawal; respiratory distress or evidence of compromised gas exchange when hemodynamically stable and responding to treatment; maintenance/initiation of BIPAP/CPAP or high flow oxygen therapy when further deterioration is unlikely after initiation.
