Position: Retail Associate (1946)

General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best practice standards in all work centers, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the store as business needs require.

Additional tasks may be requested when they help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions
  • Practices safe behaviors and maintains safety as the number one priority.
  • Maintains awareness on the sales floor, ensuring a clutter‑free environment and clear egress to emergency exits, and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy, greeting them with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly "hello", and saying "thank you" with every register transaction.
  • Provides prompt, efficient responses to customer inquiries and handles all customer issues courteously, calling Store Leadership when necessary.
  • Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas to maintain a safe and tidy store environment.

  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that meets merchandising standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor, merchandising items per company best practice and monthly presentation guidelines, and maintaining brand familiarity within departments.
  • Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program, the Shortage Highway, the Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguarding confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies, including identification of MOS merchandise, proper processing of each piece, and notification of Store Leadership for disposal approval.
  • Follows all cash handling policies and procedures, maintaining accuracy and awareness when handling bankable tenders.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to efficiently perform their role, maximizing productivity by executing all store best practices and minimizing steps and touches in workflow.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Effectively communicates with customers, associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
  • Performs basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements /ADA
  • Uses all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Spends up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Bends at the waist, squats, kneels, climbs, carries, reaches, and stoops regularly.
  • Pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Uses janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts: pushes, pulls, and lifts more than 20 pounds regularly.
