Construction Technician
Provides skilled labor and equipment operation duties related to water distribution system activities, including acoustic leak detection, construction of new water mains, replacement of mains, and installation, repair and maintenance of fire hydrants for the City of Hot Springs water system and the Royal water system.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist in the installation and repair of water mains, water services and fire services.
- Dig and backfill ditches, shovel gravel and dirt.
- Repair streets where water line repairs have been made.
- Sweep up debris and repair lawns or work sites.
- Operate all types of equipment including trucks, trailers, air compressors, jackhammers, pipe wrenches, gasoline-operated ditch pumps, pipe saws, vibratory compactors and/or other equipment tools and machinery associated with waterworks operations.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
- Perform On-Call duties as assigned.
- Work overtime when required.
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
High school graduation or equivalent. A minimum of two (2) years in the repair, replacement and maintenance of water mains, water services, and fire services; or any equivalent of education and experience. A valid Arkansas Driver’s License with a clean driving record is required. If successful applicant has a valid Class A Arkansas CDL, they will be hired in at Pay Grade 6B.
Special RequirementsAll applicants are subject to pre-employment testing; individual in this position will be subject to random drug & alcohol testing.
