Auto Body Mechanic

Overview

The Auto Body Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide an exceptional and successful customer experience through meticulous assessment and quality repair of each customer’s vehicle to restore it to pre-accident condition. The Auto Body Technician disassembles, repairs, and reassembles vehicles while supporting the company’s commitment to speed, quality, and customer excellence.

The Auto Body Technician works with the repair team to achieve facility KPIs and represents the Brand at all times.

• Plan the repair work that is necessary and prepare cost estimates for customers.
• Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
• Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
• Remove damaged sections of vehicles and replace them with new or aftermarket parts.
• Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
• Weld and attach or fit parts into place; prepare and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or an agreed-upon equivalent.
• Read job orders and work with minimal supervision; collaborate with other repairers within an auto body shop.
• Demonstrate physical ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
• Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
• Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop.

• Flat Rate of $21.00 – $32.00 hourly equivalent. Flat Rate compensation is tied to booked hours; if total compensation falls below minimum wage, hours are guaranteed to meet local or state minimum wage, whichever is greater.
• This position may be eligible for bonus opportunities tied to individual or business initiatives.
