Site Manager, Operations Manager
The Earthwork Superintendent/Foreman manages daily site activities to ensure project construction complies with safety, design, budget, and schedule. They directly manage lead personnel and staff on each project site.
Responsibilities- Daily communication with General Superintendents regarding job‑specific needs, including workforce and equipment requirements.
- Daily contact with job‑site crews to ensure project time schedule and workforce needs are being met.
- Schedules subcontractors to complete work as needed and monitors subcontractor work to ensure it is complete per agreement.
- Maintains a safe working environment by identifying workplace hazards and taking corrective action when necessary.
- Ensures employees have up‑to‑date information on safety procedures and policies.
- Conducts daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings, daily stretching, and weekly Tool Box topics.
- Completes daily record‑keeping including logs, equipment schedules, material schedules, and time‑cards.
- Manages field personnel in a fair and equitable manner in accordance with company policies, procedures, and local and federal laws.
- Addresses staff performance issues as they occur.
- Participates in pre‑construction meetings to discuss project start‑up and planning, and hosts regular job‑site meetings throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provides timely and accurate documentation for reporting safety issues, equipment damage, and workplace injuries, per company policies and procedures.
- Ensures all work follows specified quality standards; inspects field work and materials, and reviews manufacturer’s literature and drawings before work begins.
- Responds to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Regularly participates in training for construction methods and safety, and supports training opportunities for staff.
- Keeps supervisors informed of actions that may affect the ability to perform assignments or adversely affect company operations.
- Performs other projects or duties as assigned by management.
- Two to five years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- OSHA 10‑hour (preferred but not required), OSHA 30‑hour, HAZWOPER certificate, Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, First Aid.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, reports, construction plans, specifications, and legal documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, iPad, and iPhone.
- Strong communication and scheduling skills for project needs.
- Effective oral and written communication with employees, clients, and business associates; able to respond to inquiries and complaints and speak before groups and individuals.
- Mathematical skills, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions for field quantity calculations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions from technical instructions in diagrammatic or abstract forms.
- Demonstrated ability to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and responsibility.
- Safe‑sensitive role:
Must pass a pre‑employment drug test and background check. - Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
- Position requires 8 to 10‑hour workdays and occasional weekends, as needed.
