Job Description & How to Apply Below
Job Description:
The Estimator I supports the development of accurate, competitive bids for earthwork and site development projects, including mass grading, excavation, haul operations, site preparation, and related civil construction work. This is an entry-level estimating role designed for individuals early in their construction career who are ready to take ownership of portions of an estimate and contribute directly to bid success.
Working under the guidance of senior estimators and project managers, the Estimator I performs quantity takeoffs, solicits subcontractor and supplier pricing, develops scopes, crews, equipment, and production rates, and builds estimates within Heavy Bid. The role works closely with project managers and field operations teams to understand how projects are constructed and apply field-driven knowledge to the estimating process.
Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced bidding environment. This role provides exposure to the full project lifecycle, from preconstruction through project execution, and serves as a foundational step toward an Estimator II or Project Manager/Estimator career path within Veit.
