Industrial Cleaning Laborer

Job Summary

The position performs physical labor at industrial cleaning construction project sites, including cleaning tanks, working with vacuum trucks, and performing hydro blasting.

• Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor at construction project sites.
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed and bring any concerns to the attention of the project foreman, superintendent, general superintendent, safety director, or management.
• Work with industrial cleaning and hydro blasting equipment, including vacuum trucks.
• Clean process equipment.
• Maintain a clean job site at all times, picking up all material, tools, and small equipment and securing the site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
• Handle and store material responsibly.
• Perform cleaning of storage tanks and work in industrial sites.
• Keep project foreman, superintendent, or general superintendent informed of known actions, written or verbal, that may affect the ability to successfully perform tasks at construction project sites.
• Execute other projects or duties as assigned by a supervisor.

• Five years of industrial cleaning experience strongly preferred.
• Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Medical card for operating a DOT vehicle.
• Ability to wear a respirator.
• 40‑hour HAZWOPER, confined space entry, OSHA‑30, and First Aid/CPR certifications required.
• Knowledge and ability to work with equipment, materials, and supplies found in construction work.
• Demonstrated knowledge of applicable safety precautions and procedures and ability to follow proper use and safety guidelines.
• Ability to view and understand Veit’s safety training video.
• Willingness and ability to perform manual work.
• Good oral and written communication skills when working with all levels of management, employees, external vendors and other business associates.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, and apply them to practical situations.
• Ability to meet an attendance schedule with dependability and consistency as required by management and/or project requirements.
• Union‑based role.

• Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug test.
• Position requires 8 to 12‑hour workdays and occasional weekends as needed; flexibility regarding work hours is required.
• Position requires 50‑75% travel.

Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Often required to sit, stand, walk, bend knees, stretch arms, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to stoop or kneel.

Employee is exposed to environmental conditions at construction sites, working near machines and loud noises. Exposure to variable weather conditions including rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat.
