High Reach Operator – Demolition Team
Vei is hiring an experienced High Reach Operator to join our Demolition team. The position is primarily based in Rush Island, MO. The operator will handle large specialty demolition excavators, including Ultra High Reach machines exceeding 75 feet, and may be required to travel to additional sites throughout the region.
Qualifications
- Minimum one year of experience operating Ultra High Reach equipment (75'+).
- Experience with demolition tools such as steel shear, processors, and breakers.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality work.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites across the Midwest.
- Five years or more experience operating specialty demolition excavators.
- At least five years industrial demolition experience preferred.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles and ability to drive under varying conditions.
- OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR certification and ability to follow safety procedures.
- Effective communication skills and good interpersonal awareness.
- Punctual and dependable.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Union affiliation or willingness to join union.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate large specialty excavators and heavy equipment for demolition.
- Follow company and OSHA safety procedures; report issues to project foreman or other leadership.
- Follow daily operating procedures and training protocols.
- Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and report defects.
- Assist in training entry-level employees on maintenance and repair duties.
- Help identify underground and overhead utilities before excavation.
- Review trenching requirements with superintendent and ensure protective measures are in place.
- Keep project leadership informed of any actions that may affect project progress or company operations.
- Repair and maintain equipment as needed and perform other duties assigned by management.
Other Requirements
- Must work 8 to 12‑hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekdays and flexible including evenings and weekends.
Physical Demands
The job requires manual work, lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, regularly sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and exposure to weather and environmental conditions.
Work Environment
Work near heavy equipment and loud construction noises, under varying weather conditions and terrain.
