Position: Union Operator (Local 49) CDL / Class-A, Boom Truck Certification

About Us: Northern Dewatering, Inc. is seeking a skilled and safety-minded Boom Truck Driver/Operator with a valid boom truck certification and Class A CDL. This role has two key functions: transporting equipment and materials to job sites and safely operating boom trucks to assist with the installation of groundwater control, dewatering, and sewer bypass systems. Job Summary
  • Drive Class A CDL vehicles to haul equipment, pumps, pipe, and materials to and from job sites.
  • Secure, load, and unload equipment and materials safely in compliance with DOT and company standards.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and ensure trucks remain in safe working conditions.
  • Maintain accurate driving logs and delivery records.
  • Safely operate boom trucks to lift, load, unload, and set pumps, pipe, and related equipment.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as Front-end loaders, skid-steers, and other construction-related machinery.
  • Assist field crews with the installation, operation, and removal of dewatering and sewer bypass systems, including wellpoints, deep wells, pumps, and piping.
  • Support water and sewer bypass projects, including setup, removal, monitoring, and maintenance of pumping systems.
  • Work closely with Foreman to support site-specific lifting and installation needs.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on boom trucks and lifting equipment.
  • Support other field tasks as needed, including site prep, pipe handling, and general labor duties.
Qualifications
  • Must be an active member in good standing with IUOE Local 49.
  • Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record (required).
  • Valid Boom Truck Certification (required).
  • Proven experience operating CDL trucks and boom trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintaining trucks and lifting equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow project specifications, safety protocols, and supervisor instructions.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to travel to various job sites; employees are typically home on weekends.
Physical Requirements
  • Stooping, bending, crawling, and climbing (stairs, ladders, uneven ground, equipment).
  • Reaching, lifting, twisting, and carrying materials/equipment.
  • Walking on rough, uneven, or muddy ground.
  • Must be able to regularly lift, carry, and move objects up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends, as projects require.
  • Competitive $48.96/hr. union wage per Local 49 contract.
