Position Summary
The Director of Surveillance oversees, manages, and directs all operations within the Surveillance Department, ensuring strict compliance with tribal gaming regulations, state gaming regulations and all internal policies and procedures. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of surveillance practices, regulatory requirements, and the operational functions of all gaming areas and positions.
The Director is responsible in upholding the mission of the surveillance department to provide and maintain a detail oriented and proactive surveillance operation that protect and enhances the overall operation of the casino, specifically by monitoring compliance with all regulatory requirements, monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures, increasing the profitability of operations, protecting the team members and guests, and acting as a deterrent against illegal acts or violations of policies and procedures.
EssentialFunctions
- Responsible for redefining hospitality at Graton Resort & Casino while living, supporting, and promoting our values.
- Perform responsibilities in accordance with all Graton Resort & Casino standards, policies, and procedures.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the department, supervising 30+ team members which include surveillance; operations, technology, and training management.
- Responsible for preparing, monitoring and adhering to budgets and ensuring compliance with company and departmental business plan initiatives.
- Maintain comprehensive expertise in Tribal Gaming Commission (TGC) regulations, Minimum Internal Controls Standards (MICS), System of Internal Controls (SIC), departmental policies, and all governing laws at the federal, state, and local levels, including extensive knowledge of casino games and ensure they are being followed.
- Operate all surveillance CCTV and related equipment ensuring proper coverage as per regulation, and when necessary, conduct floor observations in order to detect any violations.
- Provide required reporting to TGC, compliance, and other necessary departments.
- Ensure the accuracy of all departmental reporting and review completed reports for timeliness, completeness, and factual integrity.
- Monitor and maintain current information on cheaters, advantage players, scams, and illicit gaming techniques to protect casino integrity.
- Inform management of violations involving company and department policies/procedures, theft, and other suspected criminal activity.
- Conduct interviews and manage the hiring process, monitor team member performance, and implement disciplinary actions, including suspension or termination, in accordance with policy.
- Ensure immediate action/communication is taken in any situation, which might be illegal, life threatening, or otherwise extraordinary.
- Supervise and enforce all procedures and controls according to established company and department policies.
- Maintain a thorough understanding and working knowledge of company emergency response evacuation plans.
- Cooperate with other departments in protecting the assets of the Company.
- Attend court hearings, and other legal meetings, acting as a witness for Graton Resort & Casino, gaming regulatory agencies, or law enforcement agencies.
- Report, without hesitation, to leadership any violations of the law, gaming regulations, and company policies and procedures as well as all pertinent information regarding the Surveillance Department.
- Observe the precepts of truth, accuracy, and prudence; without allowing personal feelings, prejudices, animosities, or friendships to interfere or influence judgements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality with regards to conduct, operations, controls, and procedures involving surveillance activities.
- Demonstrate leadership abilities, including, but not limited to coaching, training, and motivating all surveillance personnel in their daily activities.
- Act as a liaison between other departments and Surveillance. Make recommendations and work closely with other departments to tighten controls and weaknesses in their areas to protect Company assets.
- Conducts random surveillance and "special observations" as approved by the President.
- Conducts surveillance reviews or "audits" to confirm transactions or events.
