Job SummaryReporting to the Director of Operations and under additional lead direction from the Dean, Chairs, and faculty, the Instructional Support Technician provides comprehensive 24‑hour service for scientific laboratories in the Biology department, supporting student and faculty research and graduate study, and ensuring the continuous operation of living materials, hazardous materials, and technical equipment.
Key Qualifications- Equivalent to four years’ experience providing instructional support services in a related unit or discipline, OR equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in materials‑heavy courses and related discipline (substitutable for one year of required experience), OR equivalent to four years of college with 16 semester units in materials‑heavy courses and related discipline (substitutable with two years of required experience).
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Three to four years’ experience working with macro‑organisms and microbiological cultures preferred.
- Experience with fiscal management of laboratory supplies and equipment preferred.
- Intermediate proficiency with computers, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) required.
- Knowledge of CSUBuy procure‑to‑pay system and People Soft preferred.
- Successful completion of a pre‑placement exam required.
This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position, initially probationary with path to permanent status. The CSU Classification Step Range is $5,044 – $7,348 per month (step 1–20). Step placement will be determined by relevant qualifications and experience; first appointment typically not exceeding Step 2 ($5,145 per month).
