Job Description

ResponsibilitiesCoordinates and inspects construction projects, ensuring projects meet construction guidelines and conform to company standards and specifications.
Oversees and coordinates the work of contractors, external vendors and, as required, government entities to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
Provides construction coordination for assigned projects with a defined area or areas.
Inspects utility construction projects to ensure adherence to company construction guidelines, standards and specifications.
Inspects all phases of construction projects, including but not limited to trenching, pipe installation and aerial cable installation.
Oversees work of contractors to ensure conformance to contract specifications.
Coordinates with private engineers, city engineers, city maintenance personnel, utility representatives, underground and aerial contractors and government entities to ensure alignment and appropriate construction activity.
Maintains records of ongoing construction for as-built references, pay request approval and plan verification.
Makes field adjustments and redesign suggestions to resolve problems or conflicts, authorizes change orders accordingly.
Responds to questions, concerns and complaints regarding utility construction projects.
Reviews and comments on design plan and specifications prior to bid.
3-4 years’ prior experience
HS diploma or equivalent.
Valid drivers’ license.
Completion of Systems Technician course
Knowledge of applicable federal, state and city laws, ordinances, codes and regulations.
Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
Knowledge of construction principles and related cost accounting principles.
Knowledge of construction inspection principles and techniques.
Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and architectural and engineering drawings.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Outlook, Excel).
